How to enable Users Usage in Azure Application Insights?

I installed application insights via nuget, the application dashboard and metrics are working fine except that there is no data under Users Usage. My application is using custom Forms Authentication. ASP.NET MVC .Net Framework 4.8

  • I have tried to repro the issue and able to get the User Usage details in Application Insights in ASP.NET MVC .NET Framework 4.8.

Please check the below workaround

  • Created a Sample .NET Framework 4.8 MVC Application.

  • Added Application Insights and Included Instrumentation Key from Application Insights Overview section enter image description here

  • In the default .cshtml page of your application, add the JavaScript code snippet from MSDoc

  • Published the Application to Azure App Service

  • In Azure Portal => Application Insights => Users section, Iam able to see the User Usage data. enter image description here
