What type is the `(...)` of the `IN` clause?

I can write the following two statements:

SELECT * FROM Customers
WHERE Country IN ('Germany', 'France', 'UK');

And:

SELECT * FROM Customers
WHERE Country IN (SELECT Country FROM Suppliers);

Does this mean that the (...) construction in SQL means it is a table of a single column? Or how is that type defined exactly?
