Github Actions Google Kubernetes Engine Deploy fails

I'm trying to deploy my code to GKE using github actions but getting an error during the deploy step: enter image description here

I did some research and found out that I need to remove matchLabels from my deployment.yaml file but the problem is I don't have a matchLabels tag inside my deployment.yaml.

kind: Deployment

metadata:
  name: nginx-1
  namespace: default
spec:
  replicas: 1

I've created a simple workload called nginx-1 in google cloud kubernetes engine, but haven't configured it, maybe I need to configure something?
