Does Celery container need to have all of the application code in order to run app's tasks?

I am running a Flask application and for tasks I want to use Celery.

If I make a separate container for Celery, does this container need to have all of the application code in order to run app's tasks? If no, then how Celery will be associated with Flask application? If yes, then how does Celery container will communicate with Flask container? I mean is this communication possible because of shared containers "volume" ?

Thank you
