I'm trying to write a code which uploads a video to youtube, generates auto captioning, and downloads the auto caption as a vtt or srt file.
When you want to create automated captioning manually on youtube you need to do the following:
- Upload a video
- Set video language
- Wait for some time (depending on length of video) for automated captioning generation
The video insert method has a few properties: https://developers.google.com/youtube/v3/docs/videos/insert. The only language related property is snippet.defaultLanguage, which is different from video language.
The caption resource: https://developers.google.com/youtube/v3/docs/captions Only lets you upload a caption file... it doesn't seem to let you set video language and wait for automatic generation.
Am I wrong about this? Or is there a way around this?
