Convert .BMP to List in Python

Question

spend a lot of time on this one, but can't figure it out.

I have made this one manually, which's crazy. How can I do that automatically? With Python.

You can easily do this with cv2, which is known as OpenCv:

import cv2

img = cv2.imread('image.bmp', 0)
_, EIGHT = cv2.threshold(img, 127, 1, cv2.THRESH_BINARY)
print(EIGHT.tolist())

Explanation:

Import the module and read in your image into an array using the cv2.imread method. Using a 0 as the second argument reads in the image as grayscale, meaning with only one color channel:

import cv2

img = cv2.imread('image.bmp', 0)

You can use the cv2.threshold method to map every number in an array that's below a certain value to 0, and above the value to another value. In this case, I used 127 and 1 to make it map every number below or at 127 to 0, and the rest to 1:

_, EIGHT = cv2.threshold(img, 127, 1, cv2.THRESH_BINARY)

Finally, convert the array to a list, and you can print it out:

print(EIGHT.tolist())

You can install cv2 via running

pip install opencv-python

in your command prompt. OpenCv is heavily based on numpy arrays and functions.
