Starting python method parameter names with underscore

Viewed 57

Is it good style to start parameters of (private-)methods with underscore in python?

So something like

class MyClass
  def _my_fun(self, _my_param):
    ...

The motivation of this would be that _my_fun is a private method which is only called with the private variable _my_param as argument and therefore to have the variable name consistent throughout the class.

I checked this case in Pep8 but did not find anything about it.
