How can I insert replace the values in the middle of an np array

I have an np array of zeros of size 200x200. I want to make the middle 16x16 block of zeros into ones. How would I do this?

Here is my starting array

cells=np.zeros((200,200), dtype = int) of shape (200,200) I want the middle 16x16 zeros to be 1's.

Here's a more flexible approach:

def slice_center(arr, n):
    center = arr.shape[0] // 2
    target = n // 2
    return center - target, center + target

i, j = slice_center(arr, 16)
arr[i:j, i:j] = 1

You can calculate the indices for middle portion and in this specific case it turns out to be from 92 to 108
