I am using navigationcontroller to navigate to another fragment

Navigate to second fragment

The fragment I am navigating to

I am getting the exception

What is wrong over here?

You cannot access resources until the fragment will be attached to an activity. So you have to delay instantiation of optionsList

class UserSetupFragment : Fragment() {
    lateinit var optionsList: List<String>

    override fun onAttach(context: Context) {
        super.onAttach(context)
        optionsList = resources.getStringArray(R.array.profile_options).toList()
    }

You cannot access resources from FragmentClass. You should define, whatever you want, in onCreateView or onCreate.

Example :

class ExampleFragment : Fragment(){

     private lateinit var example : String

}
    override fun onCreateView(
    inflater: LayoutInflater, container: ViewGroup?,
    savedInstanceState: Bundle?
): View {
    _binding = FragmentExampleBinding.inflate(inflater, container, false)
    val view = binding.root

    example = resources.getString(R.string.random)
    
    return view
}
