How to keep track ng-repeat + ng-if counter manually

Currently, I have the following common loop

<div ng-repeat=
    <li ng-if=
        --> {{$index}} </br>

Using $index doesn't suit my need as that will print out

--> 1
--> 2
--> 5
--> 9
...

What I wish is to print out

--> 1
--> 2
--> 3
--> 4
...

How can I keep track the counter manually?
