Why is my .vscode folder in the wrong folder, and is it safe to move it?

When i was trying to backup my vscode settings and extensions, when i was looking for the .vscode folder, i did not see it in the Microsoft VS Code folder. Then i tried searching for it, and it worked but it was in the wrong directory. it was in resources/app/extensions/debug-auto-launch. No idea how it got there, but is it safe to move it to the correct directory?
