I am having basically the same code as here

The menu is fixed but the scrollbar is starting from the right of the navbar
I need the scrollbar to start under the menu for example
In the example supplied on w3schools, the height of the entire body is made to be greater than the screen height so the scroll bar is applied to the body element. To make a site where the scroll bar is applied to a different element then you'd need to apply the overflow-y css rule to it. Something like this:

</div>Both .navbar and .main need to be set to position: fixed;. Then you can use inset: 55px 0px 0px; to allow the positioning of .main to start just below .navbar.
55px = rendered height of .navbar.
Note: it's important that .main doesn't have a static height associated with it. Let it be dynamic and grow with the content.
