I am working on a university report that is formatted in the style of a magazine though it will not actually be printed but just viewed digitally by the teachers. I have been using Apple Pages for this and exporting it as a PDF and it has worked perfectly so far.
But have not been able to find any (free) way to embed gifs into PDFs and I don't know what other file type and/or text editor would suit my needs right now. I saw people recommending InDesign for this purpose, but I didn't see any evidence that it can work with gifs, and I don't want to buy it if I am not certain.
Word does not suit my needs exactly as it can only go so far in terms of formatting the text and pages for the look that I am going for. PowerPoint has a similar issue, it doesn't even support having text wrap around images.
TL;DR: Is there a file type that is commonly used for designing documents that look like magazine/newspaper pages that support gifs (meaning they play automatically the entire time), and an editor that I can use to create documents and then export them as that file type?
Any advice is appreciated.
