Can a subdomain be mapped to a wordPress multisite subsite? If yes, please how?

I want to map a subdomain to a subsite in a subdirectory multisite network. Please how can I do that, if that is possible?

I've tried pointing a subdomain to the root domain of the multisite network in cpanel, but it wont save.
