Trying to run build on Android phone: "A problem occurred evaluating project ':app'. Comparison method violates its general contract!"

Question

I am trying build my project, and have been able to do so without any issues up until I tried running npx react-native run-android after my phone updated. I keep getting this issue:

I have looked everywhere and could not figure out a solution. I also tried running gradlew clean but I get the same issue, so I'm not entirely sure if it's due the update on my phone--but it was the only change that happened between it working fine and not working anymore.
