Its not working,while hosting my first website through github

I created a new repository, added readme file to it. Then made a project name 'cv'. And drag an html file to it.(which is a my personal cv website, I tested it before in vs code and interpreted successfully in my chrome browser). Then I hosted. But within the link my browser showing only cv.which is my project name.. What to do? I'm new to github. Please someone help me.
