Sending emails via SMTP on a personal Gmail account

Say I have an email: myemail@gmail.com, this is not a google workspace/enterprise account, just one you can register for free on google's site. I want to know how I can use the SMTP protocol to send messages with it. Is this possible, and if so, how? Thanks!
