HDD head stack fix

Viewed 16

so I don’t have the money to get my HDD to be fix. And at this point I am willing to take the Risk to DIY fix my HDD.

I just want to ask if I am able to change my head stack of my patient HDD with a new one from a donor HDD. Will I be able to read my data long enough to transfer my data to somewhere safe ?

Beside fixing the hardware problem are there hurdles I need to take note of? Cause I can get the use of a clean room environment but other than that what should I know and will I be able to read the data long enough to transfer it to somewhere safe ?

It’s a “WD black” hard drive btw.
