Linux directly connected to DUT, setting Linux interface mtu to 71 and DUT interface MTU is 1500, Ping fails and Linux does not respond with anything

If I set MTU anything equal or greater than 72, ping works. For anything smaller than 72, Linux drops and packet without any response. Ping fails both the ways.
