curiosity that I am not sure how to start looking for a response, and as a techie girl I worry about
I have a iPhone with touchID, and as far as I know, the sensor and the underliying chip works as a biometric HSM (Hardware security module) where all credentials like secret keys and passwords are stored, so it gets to be super secure.
New models come with FaceID, and not sure about the equivalent level of security, as the "bioemtric sensor" is a "just" a camera coencted to the main ship with should made some AI face recognition things to enable the access to the expected HSM holding the key storage.
on the other hand, it is the migration process, apple fun for the easy migration from one device to another, but how that deals with all secret keys stored in the HSM to the new one?. Do they "secure-sync" over the apple cloud meaning that my most beloved secret is flying over the internet?
[I beg pardon if this is not the best forum to ask this question, but neither found response, neither better place]
