So i have searched this and come up with a bunch of posts full of nothing but people using every buzz word they know to sound smart. I want to know why some directories in linux are named with a "." in front. I have read several posts about people going on and on and on about the linux file strucutre which is not helpful at all. I understand that . and .. are the parent child relationship ok great. Then people drown on about something called a directory entry? I have no idea what that means making the answers useless. All i want to know is why the .ssh folder has a . in front of it.
