How do I create a windows batch file to auto zip a xml file to a xml.gz file?

Here is what I am trying to accomplish.

I already created a windows bat file to run and auto-create an EPG XML file for Tivimate.

I would like to add to that windows bat file to be able to auto zip that EPG XML file to an EPG XML.GZ file.

So once created I will use an FTP Program to post the XML.GZ file to my host used for EPG Progaming for Tivimate.

How can I do that?
