I work in education and am having an issue in Google Classroom. I have created a large and complex phonics class for multiple schools that I am supporting. It includes about 10 topics with about 15 assignments in each topic. Assignments all link to Google Slides Presentations with embedded audio files and links to YouTube. There are also Google Docs linked to some assignments. My plan was to create a copy for each school, and then for their lead teacher to create a copy for each classroom using my class.
However, as I am copying the class, Google seems to be making multiple, new an unused copies. I'm noticing that copying a class leads to a copy of each drive file resulting in 4 files total:
- A new folder for the New Classroom (referenced by the new classroom)
- The main drive folder of the account copying (unreferenced by Google Classroom)
- A new copy in the original folder (unreferenced by Google Classroom)
- The original drive location (Referenced by the original class)
Because of the size and complexity of the class, this is destroying my google drive storage, and makes me think most schools won't be able to make their own copies. Any idea how to stop this additional, unnecessary copying?
