Unable to sign VBA with valid Sectigo Code Signing certificate - but signing .exe works fine

Viewed 31

I bought a (non EV) code signing cert from Sectigo.

I installed my cert as a PFX and signed my OL2003 VBA macro with it.

However, every time I start up OL2003, a pop up with An error occured while verifying signatures. Do not trust these credentials will appear prompting me to disable/enable the macros. Worse of all, the Always trust macros from this publisher. is greyed out.

I saw this Unable to sign VBA with valid Sectigo Code Signing certificate - but signing .msi works fine, but it seems to be referring to EV certs.

I can see my cert is

  1. Version is V2
  2. Issuer is Sectigo Public Code Signing CA R36, Sectigo Limited, GB

I tried installing the root certs here, but it did not help make the pop up go away.

I'm not sure where the issue is as the cert was able to sign EXE properly. Any idea why?

Thank you.
