I want to change my site URLs into meaningful ones, but many of them are taken as backlinks to another site, does change URLs will affect my backlinks?

yes for sure ,, if you changed the url you will lose most of the traffic coming from backlinks
but if its a must you should redirect all the old links with the new links with permanent redirect HTTP 301
in that case they will come to the new links
